Maryland HQL - HQL is the Maryland Handgun Qualification License.  As of October 1, 2013, this license is required to legally purchase a handgun in the State of Maryland. 

To apply for your HQL, you can click HERE.  Once there, create an account & log in.  From there, you can complete an "Initial Application" to apply for the HQL.



Maryland Wear & Carry - The Maryland Wear & Carry is a Permit to Carry A Handgun.  An applicant may apply to the Maryland State Police for a Wear & Carry Permit. Before you can apply to the Maryland State Police Licensing Division for this permit, it is required that the applicant complete a 16 hour block of instruction with a Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor.  This is usually taught over a 2 day period, 8 hours each day.  There is also a live fire component to this block of instruction where the student must score a 70% or higher in order to successfully complete the training.  It takes approximately 90 days to receive your permit once you have submitted your application to Maryland State Police Licensing Division. 

To apply for the MD Wear & Carry Permit, click HERE and it will take you to the State Police Licensing Portal.  Once there, create an account and log in.  Click the tab that says "Start HGP Application."  This portal is also where you go when you want to purchase a regulated firearm.



NRA Basic PistolThe NRA Basic Pistol course is approximately 8 hours long with classroom instruction and a live fire exercise.


Utah Non Resident PermitThe Utah Non Resident Permit is a concealed carry permit that US residents may apply for.  The benefit to this permit is that it is recognized in over 30 states.


Multi State Carry PermitsThese are permits issued by Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, Utah & Virginia.  Maryland residents are eligible to obtain these permits.  See the "Multi State Reciprocity Maps" page for additional information and links to each state's application.
